Texas bucks trend, adds jobs in December

Texas set the pace in both December and 2010, adding 20,000 nonfarm jobs during the past month and 230,800 in the past year, according to a report issued Tuesday morning by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Meanwhile, 36 states suffered short-term job losses between November and December. But, 43 states came out ahead for the year.

All figures are seasonally adjusted.

South Carolina and California were the runners-up in short-term employment growth between November and December, adding 9,000 and 4,900 jobs, respectively.

California (up 87,500 jobs) and Pennsylvania (up 65,600) finished right behind Texas in long-term job growth between December 2009 and the same month in 2010.
